"We thought that the interior and splendour of The Manor House in Stokesley would never be rivalled. Belmont House confirms the saying: 'you should never say never.'
We found Belmont House to be beautiful, stunning and magical. It has been designed and furnished as if by leading interior designers and, as you pass from room to room, you are likely to have your breath taken away.
When you walk through the front door you will immediately feel at home and yet you will feel you could be anywhere. Of course you are in lovely Stokesley - but equally you may well feel you are in one of the most fashionable parts of Paris or London. Your family or guests will certainly feel pampered in their own wing. And when you step into the impressive walled courtyard garden, you are likely to feel you have been transported to the Mediterranean.
Having undergone a programme of lavish refurbishment and redesign, Belmont House now forms the original house and the cottage to the rear. This means that the accommodation is far more spacious than would appear from the frontage and the splendid walled courtyard garden is larger than average, offering a real feeling of privacy, seclusion and security.
Using the enormous key, unlock the beautiful wood panelled front door and step into the entrance lobby, where you will be greeted by a black and white tiled floor, which in turn leads you through to the entrance hall. From here turn into the 19' dining room, which overlooks College Square and which provides a traditional space for entertaining. We can just imagine a gorgeous tree standing in the bay window at Christmas.
Returning to the hallway, walk past the beautiful original staircase, which leads to the first and second floors, and take a moment to glance up at the stained glass cover on the original arched window. Also leading from the entrance hall there is a lobby with storage area and cloakroom.
Continue forward into the 25' sitting room, a perfect setting for pre-dinner drinks or watching television. From here pass through an archway and look straight through the dining kitchen to the courtyard garden. Open the double doors and step out onto the terracotta paving. Here you can while away the hours with a glass - or two - of champagne, enjoy the sunshine and hold dinner parties on warm evenings.
With its twin AEG ovens and granite worktops, the dining kitchen has been designed with the serious cook in mind: a cook who likes to work in extravagant surroundings and have the opportunity also to be sociable.
Belmont House has two staircases. One is dedicated to your Family/Guest Wing, which provides two double bedrooms and a luxuriously appointed shower room.
The main staircase takes you to a stunning landing. Here you will find the 16' drawing room - a grand room with an impressive fireplace and a sash bay window providing views over College Square and beyond. On the other side of this landing there is a 14'1 x 7'11 home office.
The main staircase also takes you to the second floor. Beware! Once here, you might never want to leave. This whole floor is your master bedroom suite. On the landing there are two double fitted wardrobes. To one side of the landing there is the master bedroom, which has a sash window overlooking College Square and beyond, and a cream painted stone fire surround with original black cast iron inset and grate. There are also two built in cupboards.
To the other side of the landing you will find your dressing room, which is 12'11" x 8'8" and provides built in lattice-fronted wardrobes. From here a door leads you through to your bathroom with its double size 'tub' style bath.
Belmont House is unique and if you are looking for a period house that makes a real statement, and that combines town and country house living, then you are likely to find your search is over. You have come home.
We will be happy to show you around. Please contact Anne Brown at our Town and Country House Section: 01642 711555 or email stokesley@rentonscountrywide.co.uk
