This spacious four-bedroom house sits on an unmade road only moments away from the beautiful coast at Seasalter, Whitstable. Designed by an unknown architect in the early 1970s, Cambria is a very fine example of the domestic architecture of the era.

The house is organised around a central courtyard that allows light to flood the interior, and together with the use of full-height windows, creates a sense of continuity between the house and its exterior. The use of red brick, wood panelling and terracotta tiling create a sense of warmth in this very modern and geometric layout. The current owners have maintained and restored many outstanding original features, such as the pine panelling in the kitchen, but have also sympathetically updated other areas where necessary.

From the road, Cambria creates the sleek and low-lying profile of a modern single-story house. Towards the rear, the house steps up two storeys to allow for over 2,500 sq ft of internal space and beautiful sea views. The second storey provides a large bedroom or studio space with an en-suite.The heated double garage, once used as a self-contained apartment, could easily be converted to an office or studio. There is a good-sized garden that is sheltered by mature trees, and includes a greenhouse and original built-in barbeque pit.

Whitstable is a popular seaside town with many beaches and an active harbour. Swimming, sailing and water sports are popular much of the year, and the town is famous for its oysters. While it is well-served by a range of local shops and restaurants, Whitstable is a short drive from the larger city of Canterbury, which provides a wider range of amenities. There is a good range of secondary and primary schools in the area. The HS1 highspeed rail link runs between Whitstable and London St Pancras in 1 hour and 20 minutes.
