The Chudleigh, although designated a town, has all the charm and atmosphere of a village. It has a good range of shops and amenities including health centre, library, churches, several inns and restaurants. The primary school was opened in 1991., and there is excellent provision in the town for after school child care. Also, playschool and mother and toddler groups. There are good sporting facilities which include football, cricket, hockey, bowls and horseriding. A regular 'bus service runs to both Exeter and Newton Abbot.

Chudleigh C.of E.Primary School received 'Outstanding' in the Ofsted Report 2008.
