SITUATION The picturesque fishing town of Brixham is located on the most southern point of Torbay. Brixham has great natural beauty and the fishing industry is the 'heartbeat' of the town. Naturally it is a popular holiday destination retaining all the charm of a traditional seaside resort.
 
The town has great history notably the landing of William of Orange on the Quay in 1688 and Napoleonic connections. Today the bustling harbour has an impressive marina and many types of fishing boats coming in and out of the Port. The Marina has attracted many new businesses, restaurants (including a new delicatessen), art galleries and boutiques.
There are excellent beaches within the area and superb coastal walks with outstanding sea views. Facilities for sailors are excellent, and for golfers there is the highly regarded Churston Golf Course situated on the edge of town.
 
Nearby Paignton and Torquay offer a further range of amenities including theatres, cinemas and large stores. Kingswear, Dartmouth, Churston and the South Hams are very close by and may be reached by a short drive. Communications further afield are excellent with the A380 dual carriageway leading from Newton Abbot and onto the Cathedral city of Exeter and the M5 motorway.Exeter's International Airport offers a wide variety of business and leisure destinations within Europe and beyond. There are also good rail links from Torquay and Paignton to London, Paddington. DESCRIPTION Hearthstone East is part of the original Devonshire Longhouse which has been converted into two semi detached thatched cottages. The building is believed to date back to the 17th century, and is now a Grade II listed building. The property retains a lot of original features and is brimming with character. ACCOMMODATION Originally constructed in the 17th century or earlier, the building is rendered stone rubble, possibly with some cob under a thatched roof, with large stone rubble chimneys, and provides spacious family accommodation, over two levels, with an abundance of charm and character. Three double bedrooms and a family bathroom to the first floor with the ground floor made over to the living accommodation including two reception rooms, and kitchen with double height vaulted ceiling. GARDEN & GROUNDS The plot is substantial and measures 0.161 of an acre and benefits from a good sized cottage style garden to the rear with a garage at the foot of the garden and parking in front.
