Renovated in 2003 by Story Homes, 58 unique apartments were created in the building and it was awarded a UK Property Award. The building has rejuvenated the Shaddongate area of the city and preserved the fabric of the city's most iconic former mill.

Shaddon Mill was the largest cotton mill in England in 1836, the time of its construction. Built for Peter Dixon and is also known as Dixon's Mill. The mill complex included the main building and its chimney, and housing for employees.
