Ainthorpe is a picturesque village set in the heart of the Esk Valley in the North York Moors National Park.

A range of amenities is available in Danby which is within approximately 1/2 mile including: - village store, bakery & caf?, public house, public phone, village hall and public conveniences. The tourist information centre is based in the North York Moors National Park Visitor Centre, just outside the village centre towards Lealholm. Here one can find excellent information about the history of the area, local walking routes and attractions.

Danby Beacon which dates back to the Stone Age is an early warning beacon which overlooks the Esk Valley and is an excellent viewing point for Moors and coastline.
