A striking and beautifully presented detached house built in 1929 with wonderful entertaining space, set in a tucked away, elevated position with views over this historic village. The house has been recognised for its architectural merit and accordingly is to be featured in Pevsner?s Architectural Guide 2012.

This handsome family house has classically proportioned elevations. Within the central gable are French doors crowned with a scroll pediment with a central plaque dating it to 1929 above which is a delightful oval window. The house is set in an elevated position and accordingly enjoys delightful views over this picturesque historic village to the countryside beyond. The front door opens into a spacious hall with a bright and well proportioned family room off to the right and glazed folding double doors to the left that open into a magnificent drawing room. The sitting room has a parquet floor, large windows and French doors out to the garden and an attractive fireplace with carved mantle and slate hearth housing a wood burning stove. Steps lead down into the kitchen/dining room which is well fitted with oak fronted Shaker-style wall and floor units, a double sink, integrated dishwasher, recessed spotlights, slate flooring and a sitting area with a vaulted ceiling. The house has 2 staircases to the first floor. One staircase leads up to the attractive principal bedroom with en suite shower room while the other leads up to 3 further bedrooms, all of which are very well presented and served by an impressively spacious and well appointed family bathroom, at the foot of the stairs.

Steps lead up from the lane through a garden gate into the garden, where gravelled paths lead around the edge of the property and across the lawn to the front door. The garden is mainly laid to lawn and lies principally to the western side of the house. The garden is surrounded by close boarded fencing, trellising and hedging and within it are well stocked flowerbeds. Gated paths lead around both ends of the house to the rear of the property where there is a disused brick built lean-to oil tank store and space for storing garden equipment and logs.

Westering is in a superb location in the centre of the village, yet set back from the High Street along a very pretty no-through road leading to the village church. Hartfield is renowned for its connections to Winnie the Pooh and has a number of local amenities including a village shop, tea-room and public houses. For a more extensive range of shopping, educational and transport facilities Forest Row, East Grinstead, Tunbridge Wells and Crowborough are nearby. Nearby Ashdown Forest is the largest free public access space, about 6500 acres, in the South East. It is a great place for walking and enjoying spectacular views over the Sussex countryside. There is an extensive selection of excellent schools in the area including Michael Hall, Ashdown House, Cumnor House, Greenfields and Brambletye.

There is a mainline railway station at Tunbridge Wells (Canon Street/Charing Cross) or at East Grinstead (Victoria/London Bridge).
