ABOUT HARTLEY WINTNEY Hartley Wintney was a typical medieval village with its church on the hill overlooking the priory on a marshy island. 1536 was significant, with Henry VIII marrying Jane Seymour of Elvetham. The village is now lined with local business, shops, public houses and a Baptist church. It is particularly well-known for a proliferation of good antiques, with the picturesque cricket green, home of the oldest cricket club in Hampshire.The green is surrounded by terraced cottages and cricket has been played there since 1770.
