" A pretty Georgian three bedroom cottage packed with historic features. Large kitchen, utility, open fireplace, and an outbuilding/ garage. Lovely quiet village setting opposite fields, yet just a few minutes away from Bicester, mainline to Marylebone and the M40 EPC Rating F.

Warm, cozy and comfortable - the archetypal village house in a really wonderful location. Blackthorn is a historic village with ancient roots, situated close to the Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire borders. The village social committee organises various events at the village hall throughout the year including Quiz nights, summer BBQ, Christmas Carols and other ad-hoc fun-gatherings for the community. Approximately 3 miles from Bicester and the designer outlet at Bicester village, the M40, A41, A43 (leading to the M1) and A34 are all nearby plus Bicester North offers a great commuter service to London Marylebone in around 45 minutes. Bicester itself is an historic market town with a wide range of shops, together with cafes, pubs, numerous restaurants, weekly markets and a new Sainsburys supermarket with cinema complex. White Cottage is the epitome of character cottages. When we pulled up for our first meeting the immediate first impression is of charm that makes you smile. The house is really well tucked away behind a couple of trees and its own boundary fences so it feels extremely secluded, and with fields opposite it also feels very rural despite being barely ten minutes from every amenity of a thriving town. The door into the house enters a utility/ hall with a rather splendid vaulted ceiling. This is very light as there is a roof light window above, and it's a great practical space for storage, or an ideal boot room for dogs. Off to the side the cloak room contains both basin and wc. The hall opens out to the kitchen at the rear. This is a splendid room with bags of character. Tiled underfoot for practicality (as is the utility) it's a pretty generous space. Windows to both ends make it lighter than most cottages, and there is a plethora of character evident with beams and support timbers in addition to a lovely brick fireplace. To the near end, looking out over the garden, is an ample space for a table and easily six chairs with room to spare for a dresser. At the far end the kitchen ranges around two walls and turns into a peninsular. This provides generous oak-topped work surface area, and rather wonderful is the view from the the rear window over the neighbouring garden land and fields behind. The kitchen includes a double oven and Belfast sink, plus there's a large cupboard under the stairs. Next door the living room is a treat. With great proportions this is a lovely family room with both window and glazed door facing the garden, with another window over the stairs to the rear. The fireplace is open and regularly used, and the timber ceiling joists still rather delightfully show the tack and lathe marks of an earlier ceiling. Upstairs, it is immediately obvious that this was originally two cottages. The stairs rise to a large landing with two windows above the stone rear wall overlooking the neighbouring land. A thick ceiling timber above gives a further feeling of history, and the landing is such a size that there's room for a book case or other storage to one side. The main bedroom is a lovely double space with eaves to the front. Bedroom two is another double room with wardrobes fitted to one wall, and a rather lovely feature are the original roof truss 'a-frame' timbers still evident to one wall. Bedroom three is more compact but still an ample space and behind the door is a store cupboard. Serving all three, the bathroom was refitted in the last couple of years so it is stylish but also really practical. The sink is an open bowl atop a wooden stand, next to it a tall glass screen shields the thermostatic shower over the bath, and in the corner is an airing cupboard. Outside, the garden (located at the front) is secluded, mainly lawn with a path running front to rear. Next to the house the terrace is ideal for catching the sun and adjacent to it is a pond surrounded by rockery. With various trees to the front it is a really private and mature space, and the whole is fenced in so it is secure for animals and children alike. To the front there is also a wooden outbuilding, a cross between shed and garage which the vendors do use for car storage. Outside the boundary there is ample space for three cars, the lane has little passing traffic and ample space for guests' vehicles without issue. Directions Sleepy lane, fields opposite
