" Overview
This is a rare opportunity to buy one of the finest houses in the sought after south Manchester conservation area of Chorltonville.

Known as St Michl, the property was originally the home of Thomas Whiteley, the man responsible for building what was conceived as the perfect garden village.

The magnificent property is on a grand scale retaining many of the original features that Mr Whiteley specified, including decorative ceilings and coving, stained glass windows, a unique staircase and beautifully detailed parquet block flooring in the main lounge.

There are open fires, original doors and an orangery now spans the back of the house accessed from both the kitchen via three -leaf folding doors and the main lounge via French doors creating a lovely summer entertaining area.

It stands on a large south facing plot with mature private gardens on all four sides and from the top floor you can watch the sun rise and set over Chorlton Ees and Mersey Meadows.
The spacious four bedroom property runs over three floors and is the perfect family home with a recently converted open plan top floor / games / entertaining room and separate large shower room.

In detail the house comprises: porch, entrance hall, dining room, lounge, family room, walk-in larder, kitchen, orangery with wine cellar, side porch, utility rooms for laundry and storage and walk in cupboards to the ground floor.

The first floor landing leads off to four bedrooms, family bathroom, separate wc, en-suite shower room to bedroom two, study to the master bedroom with access to a balcony overlooking the south facing gardens.

The second floor landing leads off to the large open plan top floor with a feature window and south facing balcony overlooking the garden and a fully tiled shower room. In total St Michls offers almost 4,000sq ft of living space.

Outside there is a large covered decked entertaining area and a detached tandem double garage and driveway.

The property is within walking distance of all the local amenities of Chorlton and there is easy access to both Manchester city centre and the motorway network. Manchester International Airport is a 10/15 minute drive.

Some of the best schools in the North West including St Bedes College, The Manchester Grammar School and Withington Girls School are all easily accessible, as are The Manchester Business School and Manchester and Salford Universities.
