Exceptionally light and spacious cottage in a Victorian terrace of historic and architectural note Grade 11 listed . It is the former school in the center of The Terrace.
This is an old and characterful cottage with a modern interior. It was built for Baron Green Price as a school, with 3 cottages to either side, all for employees on his country estate. The front entrance leads into a lobby, then into the ground floor living room. The cottage faces West to the front, with a lovely view over farmland and woodland from the living room on the first floor. All rooms have wood floors with underfloor heating and cottage style doors. The kitchen faces East, catching the morning sunshine. The back door opens into a rear lobby and then onto the parking area for one car . The workshop studio office is across the shared drive, with steps to the side up to the enclosed garden and a small terrace. The terrace and garden have the sun all day.
On the first floor, there is a second living room, a modern bathroom, and a corridor with built in wardrobes leading to the second bedroom which faces East. The bathroom has Fired Earth fittings, including a luxurious, large bath, a large corner shower enclosure, hand basin, and w.c. The bathroom walls are partially covered with Limestone. The main bedroom is on the mezzanine and has two conservation skylights facing East. The cottage, being terraced, has a shared drive with residents‘ rights of access.
The workshop studio office also has a utility space and a cloakroom. There are two large Velux windows in need of repair and windows at the front and side. The triple doors would allow half the building to be used as a garage.
The cottage also has an original stone outhouse for storage of garden equipment or bicycles.
Norton village is surrounded by countryside, with both easy and long walks in all directions. Knighton is a 12 minute drive to the North and Presteigne 5 minutes to the south or a walk through lanes . Both towns have an assortment of shops, hotels and cafes, petrol stations, schools, a leisure center, churches, and most other services. Presteigne is well known for its annual Music and Art Festival and Knighton for its Festival of Walking. Both offer a wide assortment of events, including a film society, farmers‘ markets, choirs, sports, and other social groups.
