" Will be the stunning extensive garden that attract you to view this picture perfect home that dates back to 1853?
Or will you love the double fronted layout and spacious living areas?

What we like 'This home is simply delightful. It's picture perfect with it double fronted exterior and beautiful mature gardens. The elegant high ceilings add a feeling of grandeur. To find a home with off street parking and a garage is rare in this area of the city' Why live in Freehold Freehold is one of our most requested areas of Lancaster. Probably because it's one of the greenest! Residents initially move here due to sought after schools and excellent motorway links. They like the fact you can walk into the city, yet just a 5 minute stroll brings you to the park. They tell us there is a great sense of community, whether it's just getting to know your neighbours through to joining in the local events at The Gregson Centre. We love it as it's one of the few places you can get a period home with a garden! About this home Derwent Road is a period home which can be dated back to the early 1850's. This double fronted property stands proud and could probably tell a tale or two as it's evident it was built for gentry. Throughout you'll find a home with elegant high ceilings, many original features and fabulous views over the gardens. You'll see generous rooms sizes. This is a home which has been well cared for by its current owners having been in the same family for 60 years.

We invite you to view. No doubt you'll want to do some updating. We simply ask that you look at the space. You consider the features. You think about the potential. We know you'll love the area. And just look at the garden! Homes like this don't come to the market often. The ground floor Enter Derwent Road through the solid original front door and you'll find yourself in the heart of this home. The features will be evident straightaway from the stained glass top light over the doorway through to the Lincrusta panelling on the lower walls.

The main living area has been made open plan. Now a dual aspect room there are views to both the front and rear. Twin doors lead back to the hallway, the one towards the rear providing easy access to the kitchen.

The sitting room looks out to the front. It's light and airy with windows to both the front and side. A period marble surround sets of the gas fire fire, a warming focal point to the room. We were pleased to see the original picture rails, cornicing and ceiling rose.

The kitchen has it's own style. It's certainly an area where you'll be stamping your own mark. It's an area with potential. Will you keep the original floor to ceiling larder cupboards or choose to create an open plan diner kitchen by incorporating the sitting room? You may of course look at extending like neighbouring homes already have done! The bedrooms and bathroom As you head up to the first floor you can't help but stop and look out of the toffee shop style window. It frames the garden beautifully and floods the area with sunlight. The landing area is spacious. All 4 rooms are set off it, the floor plan almost mirroring the ground floor.

The master bedroom is located to the front, although which room you choose to use as this is up to you. This bedroom features a full wall of floor to ceiling built in wardrobes. We personally love the 2nd bedroom which is shown with the twin beds due to the fabulous garden views. The 3rd double bedroom also has views to the front. Open the door to the built in cupboard. We believe past owners may have kept their top hats here!

The bathroom is spacious. Think what you could do with the space. It currently features a 4-piece suite with separate shower cubicle and large built in airing cupboard. The cellar Stone steps lead down to the spacious cellar. The meter for the home can be found here. If only used for storage, this is a useful space. The gardens and garage The gardens at Derwent Road are fabulous. It is evident the family have been keen gardeners over the years.
These extensive gardens offer something for everyone. Generous lawned areas allow for the children to play. Well stocked borders add year round colour and interest.
