" This beautiful home was built in 2003 in an exclusive cul-de-sac consisting of just eight houses. It is located on the outskirts of the village of Chestfield, just a short distance from stunning countryside as well as the beautiful north coast of Kent. "We were relocating from Scotland," says Myra, "and were touring around the locations that we thought we might like to live in when we stumbled across Elmwood. At the time it was in the process of being built, but the location was so lovely and quiet, and the village had such a nice feel, that we decided it was the house for us." "It's a very spacious home," adds Alan, "and the setting is wonderful and very safe for children. We have a small green to the front of the house where, when the children were young, we would often get together with our neighbours and sit out while the children rode their bikes and played."Since moving to the property just over ten years ago the current owners have added a small extension, which has created a lovely family room that flows from the kitchen, as well as a dressing room in the master suite. "We particularly love the kitchen and dining area," says Myra, "and it's where we tend to spend most of our time as a family. It's a lovely big space that flows into the family room which has a really cosy feel and both areas have French doors that open out onto the garden, which is lovely in the summer." "Just outside the family room we have had a heated outdoor swimming pool put in," adds Alan, "which has been wonderful for the children who, over the years, have loved inviting their friends over for pool parties in the summer." "The garden is beautifully mature," says Myra, "and because it's not overlooked from any angle it feels very private." "We have added a decking area across the lawn at the top of the garden," says Alan, "which is a lovely place to eat on a summers evening as it catches the last of the sun." "During the summer months we can follow the sun around the garden from morning to evening," adds Myra, "which is lovely."Elmwood sits in an enviable position with both the rolling Kent countryside and the beaches at Tankerton and Whitstable just a stone's throw away and the historic City of Canterbury is approx twenty minutes by car. "This has been a wonderful place to live and to bring up a family," says Myra. "We have the beach, lots of nice places to go walking and some wonderful schools in the local area. We also have a nice pub that is just a stroll away and some good restaurants. One of my favourite things to do is to get the train from Chestfield into London, do a bit of shopping, go to the theatre and then back home on the train. It's a great day out.""I will miss living here," says Myra. "It has always felt safe and people have been so friendly. It has, quite simply, given us a great lifestyle."
