Features:
  • Offers around

Agent’s wording:
Bridleway Cottage is an ideal home for anyone looking for a peacefull rural way of life and with a passion for nature, wildlife and conservation. A registered smallholding, the property sits a short distance from a country lane down a bridleway and is surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in South Shropshire.

Within the last twenty years the original cottage has been extended to provide a home with the character of a period country cottage together with all modern amenities. There is an abundance of features within the cottage including lovely exposed wall and ceiling timbers. In the original part of the cottage is the cosy sitting room with inglenook fireplace housing a Clearview wood burning stove and a useful second reception room. The extension provides a splendid kitchen/dining/living room with an oil fired Aga, handmade pine fronted kitchen units and granite worktops.

The present occupiers have taken great care in designing and landscaping the more formal garden area. There are various flowerbeds, stoned pathways and a long attractive rose arch leading down to a large lawn with ornamental pond. There is a recently created vegetable garden with raised beds and stone pathways which also includes a greenhouse. Adjoining the gardens are the two relatively level meadows ideal for grazing cattle, ponies or other livestock. There is also a separate enclosed orchard.

The detached barn which measures in total about 46' x 13'6 has been rebuilt. The middle section, 22'9 x 13'6 is presently used as a workshop/store area. Either side are two stables with hay lofts above. Part of the barn could easily be used for garaging if that was required. Within the garden there is also a detached stone former pigsty which is presently used as a workshop.

This lovely country property is well worth viewing.
