What the owner said... ‘We purchased the property in 2017 as
we loved the quiet, tree lined street and the coffee shops of
Francis Road a short walk away. Since then, the Heathcote and Unity
Caf have opened and many more independent shops have popped up
nearby and this doesn t show signs of stopping. We love grabbing a
coffee on the way home from drop off and the food and beer at the
Fillybrook is phenomenal!
The previous owners had been here since the 1980s and had
unfortunately removed many of the house s original features. Whilst
not a restoration project, we were mindful of adding character to
the house when we did our renovation such as installing a working
fireplace in the snug and replacing the single paned windows with
UPVC sash replicas. We took part of the third bedroom for the
stairs up to the loft extension, however we wanted to be able to
use that space as a room in its own right, hence the sliding pocket
door. There is enough space for a large desk or small cot and it
remains a cosy room with a lovely view onto the street.
The rear extension is the largest on the street giving us
fantastic entertaining and living space without compromising the
garden. The garden itself gets sun all year round and we built the
decking to accommodate a dining table and several seats to get the
most of the evening sun in the summer. We are also lucky to get
enough shade and privacy from the trees in surrounding gardens
whilst not giving up any of our garden s footprint. We love the
cherry blossom tree that overhangs from next door as it is
beautiful in spring with its pink petals and abundance of delicious
cherries.
We love the community feel of this area neighbours say hello
to each other and we have made friends with many families on the
road. We have friendly, quiet neighbours either side and the house
is genuinely a peaceful and comfortable place to live. With our
eldest starting school in September, we are now taking the
opportunity to move closer to family in Hertfordshire‘.
