She received many awards throughout her career from the Queen s Medal, Royal Red Cross, King s Medal and a special decoration awarded by Queen Alexandra. She was responsible for the nursing
of hundreds of thousands of casualties on the first world war and was described by a general as splendid, wonderful and a soldier he said she could run the whole Army and never get flustered.
