The area of Beeston, LS11 is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. It has had a long history. The most devastating event was when Leeds suffered heavy damage from German bombing raids during World War Two. Beeston was hit the hardest; more bombs were dropped here than in any other area of Leeds. However, despite the most bombs being dropped on Beeston, the area had some of the least damage. Most of the bombs hit Cross Flatts Park. The people responsible for the London Bombings of July 2006 were revealed to live in LS11. Police raided two properties and found a significant amount of explosives. This lead to some negative media attention for the area and affected the local economy in a negative way.
