Location Chapel Porth is a beautiful rocky cove tucked away
on Cornwall's North coast between Porthtowan and St Agnes. There
are excellent walks along the coastal footpath, to the south,
between Chapel Porth and Porthtowan and to the north, in the
direction of St Agnes, where you will pass one of Cornwall's most
picturesquely sited mine engine houses, perched high on the cliffs
above the roaring Atlantic Ocean. The fantastic waves make Chapel
Porth very popular with surfers. A walk up the valley, Chapel
Coombe, is also full of interest, with remnants of Cornwall's
mining heritage and a varied flora and fauna.
. 3 After climbing up through the valley, the footpath joins
a winding lane from which you can access the road to Mount Hawke
and Porthtowan. A short drive will take you to the very popular
village of St Agnes, a picturesque village on the north coast of
Cornwall. Steeped in mining history, the village retains a
traditional friendly Cornish atmosphere with four different
beaches. There are dramatic coastal walks and breath-taking scenery
including the iconic Wheal Coates engine house, as well as friendly
hotels serving good food in a warm atmosphere. You will discover a
thriving community with a choice of shops as well as galleries and
craft shops.
