The Mouseprice.com Street Rankings 2007 reveal today that the most expensive street in the North West, as taken from the country’s official Property Rich List 2007, is Whitebarn Road in Alderley Edge.
In Alderley Edge the streets really are lined with gold. In the last 15 years, 4 bars of gold have been declared found, with a cumulative total weight of almost 500 grams!
Alderly Edge is situated about 20 kilometres south of Manchester, making it perfect commuter territory. Hough Lane (ranked at no. 37), Beechfield Road (no. 50), Macclesfield Road (no. 59), and Woodbrook Road (no. 62) are all streets in Alderley Edge that feature in the Top 100 most expensive streets in the North West. It is therefore unsurprising to hear that this area appeals to some of Manchester’s more high profile citizens, with former residents reportedly including David and Victoria Beckham, Michael Carrick and Rio Ferdinand, as well as various famous Coronation Street stars.
WA14 proves to be the most expensive postcode district in the region, with an average price of £322,620, whilst accounting for 18% of the 100 most expensive streets. Other dominant postcode districts are WA15, which accounts for 21 of the streets in the Region’s top 100, all with average property prices of between three-quarters of a million and £1.8 million. Alderley Edge’s SK9 and SK10 together account for almost one third of the properties in the top 100 most expensive streets in the North West where average property prices on the most expensive streets consistently reach well over £1 million.
